G2E Future Watch: Internet Gaming in the U.S. and Abroad

Few subjects in gaming generate as much interest or diverging opinions as Internet gambling. While some industry observers Internet gaming brands complement brick-and-mortar operations, others view then as competitors for consumers’ discretionary spending. Most feel that in tightly regulated jurisdictions, such as the U.K., there are effective safeguards against underage and problem gambling online, but is this the case globally? Meanwhile, legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Congress to legalize and regulate Internet gambling, but what are the chances of its passage and what are the potential implications for this segment of the industry? During this session, a panel of experts unravel these and other questions after the presentation of results from G2E’s 2009 Future Watch survey on Internet gaming.
